Juggler, former tennis pro, Game of Thrones enthusiast, attorney— four descriptions that only begin to encompass Eric’s range of talents and interests. Eric’s experience with the law extends beyond his work here at Reynold’s Defense Firm, but after joining our team in 2015, he has become a successful specialist in helping people facing DUI and other related criminal charges. Eric is known for using his legal knowledge and people skills to help our clients move through the challenges that brought them to RDF. Once they leave, Eric makes sure they go forward in life as happier and more fulfilled individuals.
Unknown to many, Eric is an avid movie fan and serves as our in-house Star Trek expert. Eric is quick witted and has a poker face that can be intimidating at first, but the truth is, he’s an unassuming family man who can be found walking around Portland with his baby girl on his shoulders. When asked to describe himself, Eric struggles because he is undeniably humble and finds the task to be self-serving. It is a charming quality that our clients love, especially as he continues to get enormously favorable results for those who trust him in the courtroom. Eric is a great person, and we are proud to have him on our team.
As a native Oregonian, Eric has built-in bragging rights. He grew up in the Portland area, while honing his love for the game of tennis, rising through the ranks to be named as one of the top ten tennis players in the Pacific Northwest as he graduated from Wilson High School. He went on to play Division I, PAC-10 tennis at the University of Oregon for four years while earning his bachelor’s degree in history.
After finishing his undergraduate degree at the University of Oregon, Eric worked for several years as a tennis pro in Washington, DC and Portland, OR. In 2011, he returned to Eugene to attend law school. He graduated from the University of Oregon School of Law in 2014.
Eric has worked with both the Lane County District Attorney’s Office and the Oregon Department of Justice, and he now uses the prosecutorial knowledge and skills he gained to help good people facing DUI charges here at Reynolds Defense Firm. Eric joined Reynolds Defense Firm in 2015, and his enthusiasm for life, his passion for law, and his fantastic skills in connecting with people fit perfectly with the RDF team and culture.
Eric is a flexible team player with tremendous work ethic, so it is no surprise that he has been recognized by several notable establishments and committed to a speaking appearance. To start, Eric presented a continuing learning education (CLE) seminar in 2017: DUII 101. To see a full list of Eric’s awards as a successful Reynolds Defense Firm attorney, please visit our Awards and Associations page. One of his latest accomplishments was earning an “Excellent” rating by AVVO. He was also a winner of the University of Oregon School of Law’s 2012 and 2013 Intra-school Mock Trial Competition, and was a member of the Oregon Law Mock Trial Team. Last but not least, he received the Caroline Forell Scholarship while attending the University of Oregon.
When Eric is not serving clients, he is heavily involved with several organizations in the Portland area. To start, he is the Co-Chair of the CLE subcommittee of the Oregon State Bar New Lawyers Division (ONLD), an organization that assists new lawyers with the transition to practicing law in Oregon to conduct valuable programs, promote public awareness and access to justice, and to promote professionalism to new lawyers and law students. He was also a representative of the ONLD at the American Bar Association YLD’s 2017 Fall Conference. Eric is also a proud member of the Multnomah County Bar Association, and lends his help to the Young Lawyers Division where he has served on the Pro bono Committee and the Planning Committee of the 2017 Annual Pro bono Fair.
