While Erin was born and raised in Ohio, you would never know after she rattled off all the whereabouts in the Portland area. Erin knows where all the local, hidden (and not so hidden) gems are, and will even send you an email complete with links and videos to reference her findings if you ask nicely. Hiking, backpacking, canoeing, hunting with her award-winning dog-- the Pacific Northwest has served her well as she enjoys outdoor activities on weekends.
There’s an ease when you find yourself in the same room as Erin. Known for her ability to gracefully transition from one crowd to another, she’s easy to talk to and approaches all situations with enthusiasm. As if her work ethic, wit and flexibility wasn’t enough, our clients quickly understand she believes in client advocacy just as much as the legal system. Her impeccable legal advice and charm serves the good people we defend well, and we are happy to have Erin on our team.
Erin’s passion for law began as a child as she watched and learned from her father, an attorney. Born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, she was an all-American swimmer and developed a love for the outdoors. After taking an interest in canoeing, her hobby led her to explore Canada where she enjoyed several canoe trips, some lasting several weeks.
Although Erin is quietly confident and has a light-hearted nature, her unapologetic determination and calming disposition have served her clients well. She is known and respected for being straight-forward and honest so that her clients understand the realistic potential outcomes and their options. These characteristics, combined with her good rapport with judges and prosecutors and her unique perspective of the court systems and laws, certainly help RDF achieve the best outcomes we can for our clients.
As for her interests outside of the RDF community, Erin enjoys the married life at home in Southwest Portland. She is the proud parent of her cat, Dixie, and her dog, Charlie, who was named the Northwest Field Trial Council’s Puppy of the Year in 2011. Erin holds a couple of Oregon swimming state records, enjoys canoeing on the coast of Vancouver, and volunteering with Pacific Northwest Search and Rescue
Erin started her secondary academic career at Guelph University in Canada where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree with honors. After graduating from the University of Oregon School of Law in 2002, her professional endeavors led her on an unusual and brilliantly diverse path. After starting as a judicial clerk in 2002, she then served as a public defender, worked as a private attorney, served as an Administrative Law Judge and a Pro Tem Judge in Beaverton, and finally became a valued associate of our team. Because of her previous roles, she not only understands how attorneys approach law but also has first-hand judicial experience with DUI cases and DMV Implied Consent license suspension hearings.
Erin has earned several awards over the years. To see a full list of Erin's awards as an attorney at Reynolds Defense Firm, you can visit our Awards and Associations Page. Erin is currently rated as Superb Attorney by AVVO, and this is the highest recognition possible. She has earned a Criminal Certificate from the University of Oregon, and was the proud recipient of the Bill and Ann Shepherd Scholarship. She's made several speaking appearances, starting in 2008 at the Oregon Criminal Defense Lawyers Association (OCDLA) Conference. She then went on to testify in front of the Oregon Legislature Committee on speedy trail issues in 2009. Last but certainly not least, Erin presented a Transgender Law Continuing Legal Education Course with the Oregon State Bar in 2017.
