For Gabriela, life is about hard work, loving what you do, and fairness. From a young age of shielding the smaller children in the lunch line so they wouldn’t be pushed around by the older bigger kids, to becoming an attorney and really fighting for clients struggling to navigate the court system, Gaby has always tried to help those in a position of less power than herself. As a former public defender, she made it a point to show her clients that she was someone who truly cared about getting the best possible outcome for them. Contrary to the reputation that public defenders often have, she wanted to do more than just get clients off her caseload, but rather provide them with the best possible resolution that fit their needs and goals. Which is why Gaby knew RDF was a perfect fit for her. Reynolds Defense Firm truly cares about the person behind the criminal charge. She wanted to be part of a team that cares about helping its clients as much as possible, every single time.

Through her work as both a public defender and private counsel, she has spent time building professional relationships with other defense attorneys, prosecutors, police officers, and judges, earning the respect of many professionals in the legal community. Throughout her career thus far, she has had the pleasure of working on a wide array of cases that have challenged her own understanding of the law. Because she is fluent in Spanish, she’s had the opportunity to work with Spanish speaking clients which allowed her insight into the problems non-English speaking people face during court proceedings and the issues that creates for access to justice.

Gaby moved from Tecate, Mexico to the Spring Valley, California when she was 12 years old, which was a huge culture shock. She had to quickly adapt, and she pushed herself to learn English within a year. After leaving everything behind and having to find a way to succeed in a completely different country, she learned that there are not many things that she can’t succeed at. Because of her background, Gaby knows how scary it can be to not understand the world around you. The legal system requires an understanding of very specific processes and language that is not commonly accessible to people. Those parallels make her empathetic to the struggles clients feel when they first interact with our criminal justice system.

From a young age Gaby knew she wanted to be an attorney because she recognized early on that a lawyer can do so much to help people and improve their lives. In law school she completed the Human Rights and Immigration clinical law program. Before obtaining her bar license Gaby spent time working as a legal assistant assisting with bankruptcy cases and estate planning. This experience really showed her the power of working as a team. She quickly realized that even as a skilled attorney, having the right group of dedicated people working with you allows you to give your absolute best to every client. She is excited to apply the skills she has gained to helping the good people we represent. From working both behind-the-scenes doing extensive legal research and writing, to being on the frontline defending her clients in court on criminal charges ranging from probation violations to more serious felony charges, Gaby is a great asset to our clients and her team.

Outside of RDF, Gabriela lives a happy and active life. She has traveled to Israel, Jordan, Spain, Peru, and Ecuador alone, and is grateful for each experience and the life lessons she gained. She enjoys reading, kayaking, hiking, embroidery, watching true crime documentaries, and cooking with her boyfriend. If she were given an unplanned day off, she would happily spend it taking her dog, Winter, hiking or going to the beach.

Client Reviews
These are fantastic people! I was so nervous when I first came in, but they treated me like a human, not someone who had messed up in a major way. Throughout the process, they helped me understand all the steps and supported me both with the legal stuff, but also the personal stuff. J.M.
Reynolds Defense is amazing. From the minute they pick up the phone, the entire staff is outstanding. Don't bother shopping , wondering who to get, if they are going to help or hinder, do they even care. Reynolds Defense Firm will not disappoint. T.H.
When they tell you to let them worry about your legal issue and for you to take care of yourself they really do mean it. DUIs are no joke and I was assuming the worst. And they literally saved my life, my job my home and my license. B.O.
The firm knows what they're doing, treated me with dignity during a time where I felt very overwhelmed and unsure of what I was going to do. They helped me through my entire unpleasant experience by following up with me every step of the way, ensuring I was never left in the dark. E.S.
Take it from me and don't go it alone. If your feeling sick to your stomach you are not alone. From the very first phone call they will treat you like family and have your back the whole way. You wont have one but a team of lawyers. B.W.
